Those who attended the final concert of the LBCC Choir and Men’s Ensemble were treated to 17 songs spanning a wide variety of genres from the Mission Impossible theme to Prayer of the Children.
The concert took place at the First Assembly of God church on Santiam Hwy SW in Albany, which generously allowed the use of its premises for the event while the LBCC concert hall is being renovated. Most of the seating on the main floor was full, and some of the upstairs seating was in use as well. There were an estimated 250-300 people in attendance.
The crowning display of the night was the world premier of the LBCC alma mater All Hail You, Linn-Benton, composed by Rebecca Oswald, who was present at the concert. Conductor James Reddan led the performance. Upon completion of the song, the audience gave the choir a standing ovation. A copy of the song can be heard here.
“The performance was sublime,” said Matt Croco. His assertion was echoed by Mandy Lansdown, who said, “It was the best performance I’ve ever been to.”
Linn-Benton recently attained the rank of top community college choir in the state. They have performed for the state legislature and at a variety of other venues.
The choir plans to go to New York to an invitational performance next year. A plea was sent out by Reddan for any help getting to New York that can be provided. Reddan can be contacted by e-mail at reddanj@linnbenton.edu and by phone at 541-917-4550.
