LBCC Call for Auditions for A View from the Bridge

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

LBCC Performing Arts is calling for actors to audition for its production of A View from the Bridge by Arthur Miller, the legendary author of Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, All My Sons, After the Fall, The Price and many other plays. This classic American drama concerns Eddie Carbone, a simple, hard-working guy. In his crowded Brooklyn neighborhood, it’s common to harbor relatives entering America illegally. When Eddie opens his door to his wife’s Sicilian cousins, trouble slips through, too – under the radar. Eddie is confronted by feelings he fiercely denies, precipitating a shocking act of community betrayal. Arthur Miller’s timely play probes the rules of love and loyalty against a backdrop of American immigration. There are excellent roles for 12-15 men and women, of varying ages, in this play. Actors at all levels of development are encouraged to audition. Initial auditions will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 15 or Monday, March 16 (choose one day) in the Russell Tripp Performance Center. Auditionees can prepare a brief monologue, under two minutes, of their choice, or read from the script. Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, March 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. Alternate audition arrangements, if necessary, may be made by contacting the theater director, Brian Newberg. Rehearsals will start later in March, after casting is complete. Auditions are open to the community, LBCC students and staff. Audition appointments can be arranged by contacting the LBCC theater box office at 541-917-4531. Further information is available on our Web site at www.linnbenton.edu/go/theater, or through the LBCC Performing Arts’ Facebook page. Performances of A View from the Bridge will be on May 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 at 7:30 p.m., and May 31 at 3:00 p.m. in the Russell Tripp Performance Center. Scripts are available on reserve in the LBCC library and at the LBCC box office in Takena Hall. Theater box office hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
