Linn-Benton Community College awarded Dean of Instruction Gary Ruppert with the Distinguished Staff Award at its fall in-service held on Sept. 21.
“To be among those who have received the Distinguished Staff Award is a humbling experience,” Ruppert wrote in a campus-wide e-mail. “One of the things that I have always found to be the hallmark of working at LBCC is the commitment we demonstrate toward others. This is a place that operates on the good will of the people who work here.”
Ruppert was nominated by his peers for his dedication and commitment to LBCC, to staff and to students, according to a press release issued by LBCC News Service.
Ruppert began his career at LBCC in 1974 as part-time music faculty in the Art and Communications Division. In 1975, he was hired as full-time faculty in music and speech. In 1998, Ruppert was appointed director of the Art and Communications Division. In March of this year, he was appointed to his current position as dean of instruction.
LBCC’s Distinguished Staff Award was established in 1980 to recognize employees for their contribution of both time and energy to the college. Nominees must have completed 10 years of continuous employment with LBCC.
