Caring for critters

The humane society is a organization that takes in stray and unwanted animals. They give them food, water, safety, and medical treatment. The society has a limited budget and staff, so they depend greatly on volunteers. The volunteers help with grooming, cage cleaning, dog walking, and just spending time playing and petting the animals. The shelter is one of the rare no kill shelters. They will not put animals to sleep unless they are very sick or behaviorally unable to be adopted. They use “foster homes” to house animals such as unwanted horses. When there are too many animals in the shelter they also use foster homes to keep the dogs and cats. The shelter also depends on donations. People from the community donate much of the food that the animals are given.
