Lady Roadrunners still looking for first league win
Thursday, January 14, 2010
It’s a tough road ahead for the LBCC women’s basketball team, as they lost their second league game to Southwestern Oregon Community College on Wednesday 67-58.
LBCC sophomore Jamie Wilson was the top scorer with 22 points, while teammate Kalah Heacock had 20 points and four rebounds.
“The stats are deceiving with that final outcome,” said head coach Teresa Guerra. “We forced 31 turnovers on them. We [only] had 14. We had more shots than them: 64 to their 48.”
“For the most part it was probably one of my best shooting games, and I had to step up for my team because our point guard was out,” said Wilson.
Starting point guard for LBCC Sam Sanders sprained her ankle within five minutes of the first half. Sanders should be back before Saturday’s away game against Umpqua Community College.
The Roadrunner’s next home game is against Chemeketa Community College Saturday, Jan. 23.
