LB basketball: Men's winning streak snapped

Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Clackamas
Mens: LBCC suffered their first league loss Wednesday against Clackamas, with the final score 82-63.
Forward Xavier Watson lead LBCC’s scoring with 7-of-16 field goals, 1-of-4 3-pointers, and 8-of-10 free throws for 23 points. A season high for Watson.
LBCC Guard Taylor Roos scored 15 points with 5-of-11 field goals, 1-of-2 3-pointers, and 4-of-4 free throws.
Top scorer for Clackamas is guard Chehales Tapscott. Tapscott made 34 points with 13-of-19 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws.
Womens: Another tough game for LBCC as the women lose their fourth league game to Clackamas 106-62.
With starting point guard Sam Sanders still out with injury. Guard Jamie Wilson was top scorer for LBCC with 5-of-12 field goals, 2-of-7 3-pointers, and 3-of-4 free throws for 15 points.
Clackamas guard Rylee Peterson was top scorer for the game with 26 points, and tied with for most rebounds with LBCC’s Kiana Saluni with 12 for the game.
LBCC Roadrunners (3-1) are currently tied for first in the league standings along with Chemeketa (3-1) and Clackamas (3-1).
The Lady Roadrunners (0-4) are currently standing in eighth, and seeking their first league win.
Next game for both men’s and women’s basketball Saturday, Jan. 23, against Chemeketa at the Albany campus Activity Center . Starting with the women at 4 p.m. and followed by the men at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 16 at Umpqua
Mens: LBCC won their third consecutive league game against Umpqua 89-83.
LBCC guard Taylor Roos was again the top scorer, making 7-of-9 freethrows and 8-of-12 field goals, for a total of 23 points.
Andrew Carter made 7-of-11 field goals for 14 points with 9 rebounds.
Jordan Highland also had 9 rebounds and scored 12 points with 5-of-6 field goals and 2-of-2 free throws.
Womens: LBCC lost their third league game against Umpqua with a final score of 78-53.
Forward Kiana Saluni lead LBCC’s scoring with 7-of-9 field goals, 2-of-5 free throws, for a total of 16 points. One point behind Umpqua point leader Mykiea Russell who made 17 points.
LBCC guards Jamie Wilson and Kalah Heacock each made 12 points. Wilson made 4-of-12 field goals, 2-of-7 3-pointers, and 2-of-3 free throws. While Heacock had 4-of-10 field goals and 4-of-4 free throws.
